Pictures are more perfect
I'm not a big fan of cliche's, but there are a few that carry quite a bit of truth with them. The one that is leading me to bring this up is, "a picture is worth a thousand words." Many of the photos I have taken for the paper have captured moments that words wouldn't give 100 percent justice to. However, this cliche has been especially true on several occasions when I have caught a frame or two that shows that a referee of one of the games I'm covering made an incorrect call or missed calling a foul or penalty that was flagrant.

For whatever reason (or reasons), the Whitefish City Council race in Whitefish has become a one-sided mudslinging contest and not from the proponents. The years 2002 to 2008 were great times in the real estate market. Construction was up, homes sold and were worth record highs. Not true today, as worldwide market collapse hit the real estate industry hard. This is bad news for homeowners and local businesses when it comes to property taxes, as the slump puts our market values far below their assessed value.

Fist Fight With a Griz
Human conversations are amazing in the way odd or forgotten subjects pop up out of nowhere. That's the way it is in my coffee chats with Over the Hill Gangers. Someone last Tuesday recalled the Glacier Park hiker lady who drove an attacking grizzly off her husband by slugging the beast with her binoculars. Most of us recalled that unusual incident from the days before pepper spray; however, no one seemed to believe or recall of a young man taking on a grizzly with his bare hands.

Federal stimulus is falling short
In February, Congress passed a so-called stimulus bill that was designed to take credit for any economic recovery occurring over the next decade.
