Boys blanked by Dogs, Pirates

The drubbings continue.

The Columbia Falls boys soccer team lost a pair of games last week, 11-0 to Whitefish on Thursday and then 5-0 to Polson on Saturday.

Whitefish scored early and often against the Cats, knocking in five goals in the first 20 minutes.

The Bulldogs outshot Columbia Falls 18-2 last Thursday. Cat goalie Jake Calderwood had eight saves.

The Cats didn't have much luck on Saturday, either.

They held the Pirates to a 0-0 tie in the first half, but Polson poured it on in the second half with five goals.

Calderwood had 12 saves, as he continued to get battered without much defensive help.

Polson outshot the Cats 18-2 and had 15 corner kicks.

"We just have to try and get better and end the season on a positive note," said coach Peter Browne.

Against Libby Tuesday the Cats had another tough of it, losing 6-0.

Libby scored five minutes into the match and then 40 minutes in to take a 2-0 lead at the half.

They outshot the Cats 13-2 and had nine corner kick opportunities.

The boys play Polson away Friday. Gametime is 4 p.m.
