Proliferating weed

Our wholesome, friendly and safe environment for locals and visitors is crumbling. Why? The proliferation of weed shops has created a sordid look for our community. When I inquired last year about the number of dispensary licenses allowed, I was given a short list of ten. However, each licensee can open as many secondary storefronts as wished. Now we have a pot store which opens directly onto the Mama Blanca restaurant serving families. We have three more of these secondary pot stores anchoring the village shopping area, a few blocks from our schools. Instead of offering great skiing and hiking, a visit to Glacier National Park and a beautiful place to live, Whitefish has become the stoners' destination. It is both infuriating and tragic that in a short time, the essence of our community has been adulterated. And someone at City Hall let this happen.
