Whitefish hosts work session on natural resources section of growth policy update
The City of Whitefish Community Development Board will have a work session on Wednesday, March 19, at 6 p.m. to discuss the natural resources section of the City’s growth policy update, Vision Whitefish 2045.
The natural resources section is one of three sections that will comprise the Environment, Natural Resources and Hazards Element of the plan. The plan is intended to contain six plan elements correlating with requirements of the recently passed Montana Land Use Planning Act.
A Growth Policy, also known as community plan, is an official public document intended to be a guide for making decisions about a city’s future, particularly with regards to land use, housing, infrastructure, the environment and natural resources. Although a Growth Policy is not regulatory, it is used as the basis for creating zoning regulations and is the "blueprint" for the future of the city. The city’s current growth policy was adopted in 2007.
The meeting will be in the City Council Conference Room on the second floor of Whitefish City Hall, 418 E. Second St., beginning at 6 p.m. To review the chapter prior to the meeting, please see the link at www.engagewhitefish.com.
A recording of the meeting will be available on the website within a few days after each work session. People are encouraged to subscribe to that website to keep updated on the progress of the plan or provide comments.
Public participation for the work session is available in person or via Microsoft Teams, Meeting ID 293 623 752 368, Passcode RV6bG32W. For more information, contact long range planner Alan Tiefenbach at atiefenbach@cityofwhitefish.gov or 406-863-2413.
