Whitefish Fire Department responds to two structural fires
Whitefish firefighters responded to two structural fires Friday, Jan. 3.
A house fire on Braig Road in rural Columbia Falls was reported at around 9 a.m. Columbia Falls, Bad Rock, Whitefish and Evergreen fire departments all responded to the blaze, with Three Rivers EMS on standby. Investigation details were not available at print time.
In the afternoon, Whitefish firefighters knocked down a structure fire on Denver Street in Whitefish.
It was initially reported as inside smoke by a neighbor; no one was home at the time of the incident.
Whitefish Fire Captain Justin Woods upgraded the call to a structure fire based on additional information provided to the dispatcher while en route.
Big Mountain Fire and Rescue, Columbia Falls Fire Department, Evergreen Fire Rescue and Kalispell Professional Firefighters assisted.
The fire on Denver Street was primarily contained to an upstairs bedroom, with some additional damage to the rest of the home. There were no injuries and the cause is still under investigation.
