Marshals capture subject near high school
On Feb.19, at approximately noon, the United States Marshals Service located a subject wanted on a federal probation violation warrant residing in the 1300 Block of East Second Street in Whitefish.
The suspect was instructed to exit the home but refused and the Northwest Montana Regional SWAT Team was called to assist.
In an abundance of caution for the public, a perimeter was established, traffic was rerouted away from the scene and adjacent schools were placed into teach and contain. After continued commands from law enforcement, the suspect exited the home and was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals without further incident.
Whitefish schools remained in the contained status until the end of the school day, when they were given the all-clear and proceeded as normal with end-of-day release schedules.
