This Valentine’s Day, North Valley Food Bank invites the public to a unique dining experience that blends love, local flavors and a mission to fight hunger.

On Friday, Feb. 14, from 4:30 – 7 p.m., the food bank, located at 251 Flathead Avenue in Whitefish, will transform into a cozy restaurant for a five-course, pay-what-you-can dinner showcasing fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Guests will enjoy a beautifully crafted meal prepared by Culinary Arts Manager Rachael Broom, that will feature produce from local farms, including beets from Wicked Good Farm, potatoes from Snow Country Gardens and Salmon River Squash grown in the Land to Hand community garden.

The seeds from this special squash will be saved and replanted next year, continuing the cycle of community nourishment.

The evening’s menu will embrace the vibrant colors and flavors of Valentine’s Day, with creative beet-infused dishes such as beet-ginger cake and caramelized beet skin pudding.

People can participate by enjoying a full-service dinner with community volunteers serving as hosts, waitstaff and kitchen crew, or people can order a meal to-go.

This event is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to participate, whether by dining in, ordering takeout or donating to support the cause. Reservations are recommended. The event is pay-what-you-can, so no one will be turned away.

This special evening will also honor June Munski-Feenan, the visionary founder of North Valley Food Bank.

The dinner is a highlight of FEED LOVE, the food bank’s annual winter drive, which helps provide food for over 1,000 neighbors in need every week this winter.

Donations can be made by mail, dropped off in the outdoor donation box any time, or in person Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Call Rachael Broom at (406) 862-5863 ext.1010 to reserve your seat or place an order.
