Bulldogs open season with 16-0 rout over Troy
The Whitefish Bulldogs couldn’t have asked for a better start to their baseball season, delivering a commanding 16-0 win over Troy on Thursday afternoon.
Powered by a relentless offensive attack and lights-out pitching, Whitefish quickly established its dominance, plating five runs in the first inning, four in the second, and seven more in the third before the game was called after three innings due to the mercy rule.
Whitefish racked up 16 runs on eight hits and took advantage of several Troy miscues to keep the pressure on. The Bulldogs were efficient at the plate, with multiple players notching perfect days. Drew Queen went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a double, while Christian Schwaderer also finished 2-for-2, including a double and three RBIs. Avery Caton had a breakout game, going 2-for-2 with a double, a triple, and three RBIs.
Tait Orme added a double and an RBI, while Calvin Eisenbarth, Max Barone, Reed Boyer, and Luke Dalen also chipped in RBIs during the onslaught. Dalen, Eisenbarth, and Boyer each made the most of their at-bats, contributing to the Bulldogs’ steady offensive output in every inning.
On the mound, Schwaderer set the tone, striking out six over two dominant innings without allowing a hit or run. Sam Akey closed things out with a scoreless third inning, striking out one and sealing the combined no-hitter for Whitefish.
Troy struggled to find any offensive rhythm against Whitefish’s strong pitching and sound defense. The Trojans finished the day without a hit and committed one error.
