North Valley Music School hosts Ukrainian guitarist Marko Topchii
Marko Topchii, a renowned classical guitarist born into a musical family in Ukraine in 1991, has played at esteemed venues worldwide including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Salle Cortot in Paris, and Yamaha Ginza Hall in Tokyo.
Now, on April 22, he’ll add Christ Lutheran Church in Whitefish to that list.
The concert promises legendary music while serving as a point of cultural connection and as an opportunity to support North Valley Music School.
With 115 international competition awards, including an astonishing 55 first-place prizes, Topchii is among the most decorated classical guitarists of all time.
"As a lifelong student of the classical guitar and a proud Whitefish resident, I cannot overstate how fortunate we are to host an artist of this caliber in our community,” said Jim Stroud, event sponsor and Guitar Foundation of America board member.
“Marko Topchii is, without peer, one of the greatest young guitarists of our time. Hosting him in Whitefish is akin to welcoming Yo-Yo Ma on cello or Itzhak Perlman on violin.
“Having won every major classical guitar competition in the world, his technique is nothing short of astonishing. He transforms the guitar into a full orchestral experience, elevating the music to extraordinary heights. This promises to be an unforgettable musical event,” Stroud said.
The event is Tuesday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Whitefish.
The event, intended for music appreciation and donor stewardship, is free and open to the public thanks to a generous sponsorship from Jim Stroud and Jeff Allen.
Tickets are also available at a suggested donation amount of $35 to support the NVMS Endowment to ensure future music programs.
Both ticket options are available at www.vancoevents.com/us/events/landing/52924
