Possible minor injuries after Whitefish school bus accident at US 93, MT 40
A vehicular accident involving a Whitefish school bus and multiple other vehicles occurred Thursday morning at about 8 a.m. at the intersection of US Highway 93 and MT Highway 40.
There were 34 students including elementary, middle and high schoolers aboard the bus.
A statement from Whitefish School District sent to families and staff on Thursday night said that they received a few reports of possible minor injuries to students on the bus, and that those students have been evaluated by medical personnel and released to their parents.
A student driving a vehicle involved in the accident was also assessed by medical personnel and released.
Whitefish School District parents and staff were first alerted of the incident via text and email at 8:11 a.m.
The involved parties pulled into the Town Pump parking lot where students waited for an alternate bus.
A follow-up alert from the district said that the students arrived at their respective schools by the alternate bus prior to 9:16 a.m.
At the time, it was lightly snowing, and the roads were wet.
Investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
