New tool library to support local craftmanship and creativity
The Making Place is opening the first ever Tool Library in the Flathead Valley this month. A Tool Library is like a traditional library in which members can borrow tools, supplies and materials to support their projects. Through shared access to items, a tool library opens opportunities and helps foster a sense of community.
The Making Place’s Tool Library contains their current inventory of donated tools, materials and supplies. The library already includes tools and supplies for crafting, painting, printing, textile work, woodworking and more.
“We are starting with what we have and working towards what we want,” said Sienna Broglie, The Making Place board member.
Based on the responses from a survey they took in February regarding the needs of the community, The Making Place has drafted a tool wish-list and is accepting donations in their tool drive. This launch of a Tool Library takes The Making Place one step closer toward building a brick-and-mortar makerspace for the Flathead Valley.
People are encouraged to participate in this community-oriented resource by browsing the inventory, becoming a member, taking the survey or donating a tool.
