Whitefish Trail Legacy Run returns as Whitefish Trail Blazer
Called the Whitefish Trail Legacy Run for the past 14 years, the event’s new name, Whitefish Trail Blazer, blazes Whitefish Legacy Partners towards a new era. As in years past, the Blazer has a running distance for everyone with a 50K on Saturday, Oct. 5, and a half marathon, 10K, 5K and two-mile family fun run on Sunday, Oct. 6.
The courses highlight the best parts of the Whitefish Trail and the event supports local conservation and recreation.
There are exciting changes to the 50K ultra mountain run. Saturday’s 50K will start and end at Whitefish Mountain Resort’s village with the course summiting Big Mountain and running down the Whitefish Trail to the Reservoir Trailhead – and back up, of course. Runners will come through the start/finish area at the bottom of Chair 1 four times, offering an excellent spectator experience at the village. There will be opportunities to cheer on runners with live music by Todd Cowart and food and drink, thanks to the Hellroaring Saloon. Saturday starts at 7 a.m. with runners coming back through the village between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Sunday’s runs at the Whitefish Bike Retreat will be similar to previous years. Sunday’s races begin at 9:40 a.m. and the finish celebration at the Bike Retreat will run from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Whitefish Legacy Partners is thankful for the support of title sponsors: Hammer Nutrition and Stockman Bank, Physical Therapy Sponsor OrthoRehab, and event sponsors Busy Bee IV, the Flathead Beacon, and Tamarack Cannabis.
All participants will receive lunch, drinks, a Whitefish Trail Blazer buff, finishers patch and a swag bag. Family and friends are invited to celebrate at the post-event parties at the WMR village and the Whitefish Bike Retreat at Beaver Lakes.
