I am writing to express my support for the upcoming bond measures that will fund needed updates to our athletic facilities and expand academic spaces at Whitefish High School. These bonds represent an investment in our students' future, their education, and their overall well-being.

As a coach and a teacher in the district, I believe sports play a vital role in the high school experience, offering benefits that extend far beyond the field or court. For many students, athletic scholarships open doors to higher education that might otherwise be out of reach. By improving our facilities, we enhance our students' athletic potential. Moreover, sports teach invaluable life skills such as teamwork, hard work, and perseverance. These are qualities that shape character and prepare our youth for future success in areas that transcend sports.

In an era where we increasingly recognize the importance of mental health, it's crucial to acknowledge the positive impact of sports. Regular physical activity reduces stress, improves mood, and enhances self-esteem and confidence. Sports also provide social connection and a sense of belonging, which are vital for teen development. As a former athlete myself, the value of sports on the social-emotional aspect of a person is beyond critical. It's paradoxical that we often discuss the importance of mental health while overlooking one of the most effective tools we have to support it: sports programs with quality facilities.

Our current athletic facilities are in dire need of improvement. Our outdated and deteriorating track not only limits our student-athletes’ ability to perform at their best but also poses safety risks.

By voting yes on this bond, you'll be ensuring that our student-athletes have safe, modern training and competition spaces, facilities that match the caliber of our students' talents and aspirations, and equal opportunities compared to students in other districts. By voting yes on both bonds, you're not just improving buildings and fields; you're investing in the future of our community. You're saying yes to better opportunities for our students, improved mental and physical health for our youth, and a stronger, more vibrant Whitefish High School. Every student deserves the chance to thrive, whether in the classroom or on the playing field. This bond gives them that chance. Please vote YES for both the WHS academic and athletic bonds.
