Glacier National Park hosts first ever Astronomy Week

| September 4, 2024 1:00 AM

Glacier National Park is hosting the first ever Astronomy Week Sept. 3-6. Daytime and nighttime activities will be hosted throughout the park. There will be solar viewing, night sky programs, a 3D Mars panorama, Dusty Star Observatory tours, astrophotography workshops, an interactive art project, and evening talks.

The park is excited to welcome a team of NASA scientists from the James Webb Space Telescope and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center during Astronomy Week. Join them to learn about the wonders of deep space on Wednesday, Sept. 4 and Thursday, Sept. 5, at the St. Mary Visitor Center Auditorium at 7 p.m. Visitors can also interact with the NASA team at the St. Mary Visitor Center during the day.

The last Logan Pass Star Party of the season will be on Friday, Sept. 6, as the final celebration of Astronomy Week 2024. Please note that the Logan Pass Star Party is a ticketed event. Tickets are $5 per vehicle and will go on sale Thursday, Sept. 5, at both the St. Mary and Apgar Visitor Centers.

Glacier National Park’s astronomy program is made possible through the park’s non-profit fundraising partner, the Glacier National Park Conservancy. More information and a full schedule of activities for the week can be found on the park’s website, online calendar and at park visitor centers.
