Whitefish’s Chapter D of the Women’s Philanthropic Education Organization (P.E.O.) awarded Whitefish High School graduate Maddie Young a $1,000 P.E.O. Local Scholarship for the 2024-2025 academic year. Young is currently attending M.S.U. in Bozeman.

The P.E.O. Local Scholarship recognizes the accomplishments of graduating women planning to pursue post-secondary education based on the following merits: leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community/volunteer service, and potential for future success.

At Whitefish High School, Young participated in soccer, gymnastics, and track and field. She helped lead the environmental science FREEFLOW Club. She has substantial volunteer service, including working with Land to Hand Montana, assisting with the Backpack Assistance Program, to assure that students have food when not in school.

The P.E.O. Sisterhood is one of the largest community-based women’s organizations in North America, committed to helping women achieve their educational goals.
