| October 16, 2024 12:00 AM

Jacque Lyn "Jacky" Colton Bosacker, 92, passed peacefully at her home in Whitefish on Sept. 23, 2024. Jacky brightened the lives of those around her with her humor, sunny disposition and radiant smile. Born August 13, 1932, to Roscoe and Ruby Colton in Fairmont, Minnesota, Jacky spent her childhood surrounded by the warmth of family and community. Under her father Roscoe's guidance, she learned the print shop business, developing a strong work ethic. Her mother Ruby instilled in her a love for domestic arts, teaching her the delicate skills of knitting, crocheting, sewing and gardening. She was lovingly raised alongside her three devoted older sisters, Nann, Loyce, and Marilyn.

At just three years old, Jacky's family discovered she had a significant hearing loss. Undeterred, she learned to lip-read and communicate effectively, rising above the challenges of hearing impairment.

Growing up, Jacky spent countless hours at Sylvania Park on Lake Sisseton, across the street from her family home, teaching swimming lessons and ice skating to younger children. Her passion for speed skating earned her recognition. She proudly played clarinet in the Fairmont High School marching band. Jacky graduated in 1949, ready to take on the world. She moved to Minneapolis to study bookkeeping at the Minnesota School of Business. Her career led her to Wilson Meat Co. in Albert Lea, Minnesota, where fate introduced her to Jerry Bosacker at a dance where redheads got in free. Smitten, they married in Fairmont on June 1, 1954, sharing an extraordinary 64-year journey until Jerry's passing in 2018.

Jacky cherished her role as a mother, actively supporting her two children's activities, sports and personal growth. Her loving encouragement shaped their lives. Extending her kindness, Jacky sent birthday cards to her vast family and dear friends each month, nurturing connections and spreading joy.

At 76, a caring friend introduced Jacky to cochlear implants. This life-enhancing gift reignited her love for music and sound. Jacky’s unconditional love and legacy live on through her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her later years, Jacky found fulfillment volunteering at the Whitefish (Soroptimist) Thrift Haus; alongside her sisters at Beta Sigma Phi; deepening connections with her Whitefish United Methodist Church family and savoring a cup of coffee with friends on the porch.

She is survived by her daughter Jill (Joe) Courtney, grandson Jacob (Hattie) Courtford, great-granddaughters Zenovia and Mozelle; granddaughter Janessa (Bob) Purvis, great-grandson Hudson and another due in October; son John (Abby) Bosacker; grandson Brandon (Lacy) Bosacker, great-grandchildren Harlow, Hadley and Haydn; grandson Brock (Brooke) Bosacker, great-grandchildren Cora, Colton and Conway; granddaughter Brittany (Jake) Lampack, great-granddaughter Ruby; and dear sister Marilyn Peterson.

"When we accept our life is done, our history completely run, and all the honors we have won, that web of gold that we have spun is FAMILY" —Gerald Bosacker.
