Girls on the Run Western Montana hosts adventure film festival

Girls on the Run Western Montana, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering girls across the Flathead Valley and Western Montana, is hosting an adventure film festival in partnership with No Man’s Land Film Festival (NMLFF) in Whitefish on Thursday, Oct. 24.  

“Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running,” says Executive Director Kim Holloway. “Pairing this with the incredible work the NMLFF is doing to shine a light on women telling stories of other women in girls only strengthens that mission.”  

Girls on the Run Western Montana is a council of Girls on the Run International. Since the council’s inception in 2017, girls across Flathead and Lake Counties have received empowering curriculum and resources to encourage girls to reach their full potential. 

No Man’s Land is a service-minded, community-oriented arts and advocacy non-profit organization that seeks to break patterns and cycles of harm individually, collectively, and globally.  

The No Man’s Land Film Festival was founded in 2015 as a response to the lack of women-representation in the larger outdoor media and has grown to become the premier adventure film festival for female athletes and filmmakers to inspire an inclusive, equitable and accessible future for all.  

This series of short films is rated G for all ages. All genders are welcome, and Girls on the Run Western Montana and No Man’s Land encourages all people to attend. 

The film festival in Whitefish is Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center at 127 Spokane Ave. Doors open at 5:30 and showtime is 6:30 p.m. Tickets for 12 and under are $10 and general admission is $25. The event will also include a social hour and silent auction. All proceeds from this event will benefit Girls on the Run Western Montana.
