Armory Road reconstruction project begins preliminary traffic trial

| October 9, 2024 12:00 AM

Morrison-Maierle, in cooperation with the City and citizens of Whitefish, has been selected to help improve traffic concerns on Armory Road between East Second Street and Dodger Lane.

The current roadway configuration poses concern for motorists, pedestrians, and adjacent homeowners. This project aims to address these challenges and offer a significantly improved transportation corridor that benefits all stakeholders.

Over two weeks, a detailed traffic trial will be conducted simulating a raised center median. This trial will assist in deciding which improvements will best serve the community.

The mock raised center median trial will begin during the week of Oct. 14, when a simulated median will be placed along the centerline of Armory Road through the curve. Cameras and data collectors will be used to monitor the area during this trial.

A public meeting will be conducted at Whitefish City Hall in the Council Chambers Conference Room on Dec. 4 at 6:00 p.m. Alternative design concepts based on the collected data will be presented and discussed.
