Whitefish volleyball battles Polson, sweeps Browning
Whitefish fell to Polson in a five-set battle in Northwest A Conference volleyball action on Tuesday, Sept. 24, by scores of 22-25, 25-23, 17-25, 25-23, 15-13.
Myli Ridgeway led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 kills, while Kaydence Blackwell had 23 assists.
Maggie Mercer had 26 digs, while Ridgeway had 19. Allie Shors also dished out 15 assists in the battle. Stella Frisbee notched three blocks as well.
"Polson is a good team," coach Addy Connelly said. "They ran a faster offense than we have seen this season and we have been making adjustments. I was proud of the fight the girls showed. That game could have gone either way several times. I'm excited to play them there."
The Lady Bulldogs bounced back to sweep Browning, 25-6, 25-5, 25-3 on Thursday, September 24. Kaydence Blackwell had six aces and 12 assists, while Isabella Hartwig led the team with nine kills.
On defense, Maggie Mercer had eight digs. Kamry Kelch had four aces as did Hartwig. Kelch also had seven kills.
Whitefish is currently 8-5 on the season and 4-2 in conference play.
"The girls are playing well," Connelly said. "They are super positive about all the growth they are making as individuals and as a team. The captains are doing a great job of keeping the intensity up at practices which helps during games."
Ridgeway has been seeing the court, the coach said.
"She's been consistent in the back row as well as in the front row," she commented. "Her leadership is quiet but mighty."
