Disability Rights Montana participates in national ‘Week Without Driving’
Disability Rights Montana is excited to announce its participation in the national “Week Without Driving” challenge, taking place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6. This initiative encourages individuals, especially policymakers and transportation planners, to experience the daily challenges faced by non-drivers in our automobile-dependent society.
The “Week Without Driving” challenge aims to raise awareness about the barriers that people with disabilities, seniors and others who cannot drive encounter every day. By stepping into the shoes of non-drivers, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of accessible and inclusive transportation options.
Participants can expect to increase empathy and awareness by experiencing, firsthand, the difficulties non-drivers face, from limited public transportation options to inaccessible infrastructure.
They can also advocate for better transportation policies and infrastructure that accommodate everyone, regardless of their ability to drive.
To get involved, take the pledge. Commit to not driving for one week at www.weekwithoutdriving.org/join/.
