Girls hockey undefeated in weekend tournament play

| November 20, 2024 1:00 AM

Fourteen girls from the Glacier Hockey Association traveled to the Canal Flats tournament in British Columbia, Canada, where they played teams from Cranbrook and Golden. The team from Whitefish finished the weekend with a 3-0-1 record and Coach Lini Reading said the weekend featured lots of firsts.

The tournament included the first all-girls East Kootenay League U11 teams. Players Fynlee Tveidt, Rowan Berney, Frankie Lamb and Lola Long each scored their first goals while Isla Boksich got her first hat trick. Goalie Juliet Wainwright earned her first shutout.

“It was a super fun weekend with these little girls and they did so well,” Reading said. “They improved so much throughout the weekend and really had fun.”

Next up for the girls is WickFest, a tournament in Calgary over Thanksgiving weekend.
