Krack and Zetooney shine at Divisionals
Whitefish's boys and girls track and field teams finished second at the Western A Divisional Track and Field Championships at Columbia Falls on Friday and Saturday, May 17-18. The Bulldogs featured perhaps the most impressive multi-event winners on this side of the state.
For the girls team, Brooke Zetooney won the 100-meter run (12.55), the 200-meter run (25.61) and the 400-meter run (57.71)
On the boy's side, Carson Krack won the long jump (22-9.75) and the triple jump (43-10.5), along with the 300-meter hurdles (38.89), while also finishing second in the 400-meter run (50.35).
In the 800-meter run for the boys, Simon Douglas was fourth (1:59.82) and second in the 1,600-meter run (4:27.62). Carson Gulick placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.24).
Whitefish's 4x400 relay team took first (3:29.18), and the 4x100 relay team took third (44.74).
The Bulldogs finished second with 74 points, behind Corvallis' 109. Columbia Falls finished third with 72 points, and Bigfork finished fourth with 69.
On the girls side, Rachael Wilmot was second for Whitefish in the 100-meter run (12.80) and the 200-meter run (26.36). Hailey Ells won the high jump (5-2) while placing third in the 100-meter run (12.99), third in the 100-meter hurdles (16.23), and second in the 300-meter hurdles (47.16).
Bailey Smith was third in the javelin (108-0), and third in the triple jump (33-3.75). Norah Schmidt was fourth in the pole vault (9-6) and fifth in the triple jump (33-1.75).
Whitefish's girls finished with 104 points, just behind first-place Hamilton, which had 108.
