Whitefish student performs in Carnegie Hall
Whitefish student Fiona Shanahan, 16, performed at the New York Concert Music Festival on March 3 in Carnegie Hall, placing first in classical vocal.
Shanahan sang Antonin Dvorak’s operatic composition "Song to the Moon" in the competition alongside applicants from Europe, Asia and the U.S.
The New York Concert Festival International Competitions provide opportunities for music students from around the world to display their talents in such renowned venues as Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center. A jury of internationally renowned classical musicians selected Shanahan from an online audition.
Shanahan is a junior at Whitefish High School. She is a member of the Treble Choir and has been selected for the All-State Chorus for the past two years.
Previously, she had solo performances at Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center and the Atlantic Youth Orchestra. In addition to singing, she plays the violin and piano.
