Glenn Christiansen, 90

| March 13, 2024 12:00 AM

Glenn Christiansen was born in Plentywood, to Clarence and Anna Christiansen on Nov 23, 1933. This Danish family of five children lived very minimalistic with an appreciation for everything they had.

On the farm there was no shortage of hard work to be done before walking to school, often hauling water for the rest of the class. This attribute of servitude would remain with Glenn throughout his entire life.

Glenn was just a young teen when a neighboring farmer took note of his hard work ethic and told him he could make a man's wages if he could get a team of horses together. He managed to do so and put in the long hours that got the work done. Glenn often would say that marriage was like a good team of horses, pulling together in the right direction.

Glenn met and married Vivian Askelson, taking her to Germany after he was drafted into the army in 1956. Four children followed that union Bruce, Laurie, Robert and Curt who are still in the area with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Glenn taught us a lot of life lessons by living example giving his due diligence to live a productive, purpose driven life which included attending regular church services. Because he was such a like-able, dependable, and capable handyman,

Glenn reached super-hero status in his kids eyes and the eyes of the community. In 1979 after over 25 years he retired from the aluminum plant and continued to plow snow, build houses, dreams & pretty much help anyone who asked him. I can honestly say those who knew him breathed a little easier because he lived.

At 90 years of age his life well lived wore out rather than rusted out. He joined loved ones in heaven on March 2, 2024. Glenn’s nearly century old wit, wisdom, and recollections of the good ol’ days will surely leave a place in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him.

Glenn’s legacy will live on through all his surviving relatives and descendants.
