Whitefish songwriter weekend Downtown in the Round announces lineup
For three days this fall, songwriters from Nashville along with local musicians will congregate in Whitefish for Downtown in the Round, a celebration of original songs and storytelling. Local music production company Big Sky Troubadours is hosting the event from Oct. 11-13.
The multi-day celebration of the art of songwriting features hall-of-famers, radio hit songsmiths and emerging artists who will be sharing original music and the stories that inspire them.
“When I moved with my family to Whitefish from Nashville, I immediately knew I had to share this beautiful place with my songwriter friends,” says co-founder and songwriter Jo Smith. “It is a dream come true to share the Flathead Valley with some of the industry’s greatest hitmakers and, in turn, give these artists the stage to share their stories and songs with our community.”
The shows will be held in four downtown Whitefish venues: Second Story at 101 Central, Remington Bar, Great Northern Bar & Grill, and Slow Burn Records.
The lineup includes Nashville songsmiths Brice Long, Trannie Anderson, Josh Phillips, Marla Cannon-Goodman, Phillip White and Jo Smith. Collectively, they have written hundreds of songs for artists like Lainey Wilson, Luke Combs and Chris Stapleton.
Participating local artists include Tom Catmull, Hannah King, Nick Spear, Miller Campbell, Kalyn Beasley, Abigayle Kompst, Rylee Mix and Tomara.
“The Whitefish Songwriter Festival was a huge success for three years and we didn’t want it to stop, so we are producing a new version of the songwriter weekend,” says co-founder Cari Klepper. “By nature, songwriters are the best storytellers.”
