Gardner Beougher named mountain operations director at Whitefish Mountain Resort
Whitefish Mountain Resort has selected Gardner Beougher as mountain operations director, a key position overseeing trail grooming, ski and bike patrol, lift maintenance and operations, mountain events and strategic improvement planning.
Beougher, who grew up skiing on Big Mountain, has 21 years of experience in the resort’s grooming and snowmaking department. For the last four ski seasons, he led that department as slopes manager, responsible for the maintenance of over 110 trails across 3,000 acres of skiing terrain.
“Gardner is a capable leader with deep institutional knowledge of our mountain, and we couldn’t be more excited to have him in this role,” Whitefish Mountain Resort President Nick Polumbus said. “As slopes manager he did an excellent job leading our fleet of trail groomers and snowmakers, and we know he’ll bring that same care and attention to all the other functions now under his supervision as we look ahead to the 2024-25 ski season and beyond.”
Beougher started as mountain operations director in late June.
“I'm honored to step into this new role and look forward to working with everyone on our mountain operations teams who keep this place humming along day after day,” he said. “Together we'll continue providing the unique and valuable guest experience Whitefish Mountain Resort is known for.”
Beougher replaces Bill Cubbage, who had served as mountain operations director since 2019. Cubbage recently accepted a position at a ski resort in Utah.
“Bill oversaw some big improvement projects including a major chairlift installation and a lift realignment,” Polumbus said. “We thank him for his years of service and wish him the best on his new endeavor.”
Replacing Beougher as slopes manager is Clay Morrison, a longtime member of the grooming and snowmaking department preparing for his 18th ski season at the resort.
“It’s a testament to all the talent we have at Whitefish Mountain Resort that we were able to fill both of these key positions by promoting from within,” Polumbus said.
