FLORENCE — Jake McIntyre hit a two-RBI double during the Glacier Twins four-run first inning and the defense took over from there as the Twins topped the Kalispell A Lakers 4-1 for the Western A divisional title Sunday.

Trenton Derosa started on the mound for Glacier (32-11) and gave up one run to the Lakers (34-26) over six innings, allowing six hits. He struck out two.

Stevyn Andrachick closed out the seventh inning for the Twins, who went unbeaten at the tournament — including a pair of wins over Kalispell.

Maddox Muller and Micheal Miller added RBI singles in the first inning as the Glacier offense took over early.

Derosa didn’t allow a runner to reach second base until the fifth inning when Brady Buckmaster, Cale Brink and Tait Orme hit three straight singles — Orme’s driving Buckmaster home for the lone run of the game for Kalispell.

Brink singled again in the seventh after Dillon Wink walked to bring the tying tun to the plate, but Andrachick forced Orme to ground out and Kyler Croft to fly out to end the game.

Bo Schultz went the distance for the Lakers, allowing four hits and striking out one.

Mission Valley hosts the State Tournament in Polson starting on Wednesday, meaning only one spot was available at the Western A tournament. The Mariners bowed out on Saturday after falling to Cranbrook Saturday.

Glacier takes the field in Polson for a 2 p.m. first pitch against North division runners-up Lethbridge Wednesday.

Mission Valley starts the tournament at 5 p.m. against North division champions Vauxhall.
