Glacier splits doubleheader against Kalispell

Glacier recovered from a slow start to split a doubleheader against the Kalispell Lakers at home on Wednesday, July 17.

The Kalispell Lakers scored three unanswered runs in a 5-2 victory to open their doubleheader against the Glacier Twins. Kellen Kroger started the game for the Twins, striking out six in five innings of work.

Michael Miller and Maddox Muller each had doubles, while Kroger went 3-for-4 from the leadoff position.

Glacier was tied 2-2 with the Lakers through four innings before the Lakers scored a run in the fifth and two in the sixth. Kalispell finished with 11 hits. Both teams committed four errors.

The Twins bounced back to win the second game 7-3. Glacier had a 5-2 lead through three innings and then scored a run in the fifth and another in the sixth. Noah Amerman had a triple and two RBI, while Kellen Kroger also had a double. Michael Miller finished with two hits and also drove in a run.

Kalispell committed eight errors in the game. 

Kalispell And Glacier Split Again

In a Friday doubleheader, Glacier matched up against Kalispell again and split two games again. This time, the Twins defeated Kalispell 4-3 on Friday, July 19.

The Twins scored three runs in the fifth inning on their way to a 4-3 win over the Lakers. Trenton Derosa pitched the first six and 1/3 innings, allowing just two runs.

Kellen Kroger had a double and drove in two runs, while Noah Amerman went 2-for-3. Kalispell committed four errors in the game.

In the second game, the Lakers scored five runs in the bottom of the third and came away with a 5-3 victory. Glaciers Kellen Kroger hit a double, while Maddox Muller drove in a run. Glacier finished with five total hits. 

Glacier Drops Two Games To Cranbrook

The Twins dropped two matchups to Cranbook on Sunday July 21 despite a fairly balanced day at the plate on the road.

In the first game, Cranbook scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to come away with a 7-3 victory. Cranbrook and Glacier were tied 1-1 after three three innings, and after the Bandits took a 2-1 lead in the fourth. The Twins scored two in the fifth for a 3-2 advantage before Cranbook tied the game again in the bottom of the frame and had their big rally in the sixth. 

Glacier got three RBI from West Amerman and two RBI from Michael Miller. Miller, Jacob McIntyre and Kellen Kroger each had doubles.

McIntyre finished 3-for-4, while Kellen Kroger, Noah Amerman, and Miller had multi-hit games. 

Cranbrook scored nine of its ten runs in two innings to defeat Glacier 10-9. The Twins outhit the Bandits 10-7, but Cranbrook scored four runs in the fourth and five runs in the sixth.

West Amerman finished with three RBI and Michael Miller drove in two runs. Glacier led 4-0 after four innings but Cranbrook tied things up in the bottom of the frame. The Twins answered back with a three-run rally in the fifth and another run in the sixth for the 8-4 advantage.

Cranbrook’s five runs in the sixth to go up 9-8, and Glacier tied the game up in the seventh before the Bandits came away with the walk-off run in the bottom of the game.

Jacob McIntyre and Kellen Kroger also had doubles. Kroger, McIntyre, Noah Amerman, and Miller had multi-hit games.

Glacier is now 24-11 on the season.
