Whitefish pro cyclist Sam Boardman wins state road race
Whitefish professional cyclist Sam Boardman was the overall winner at the Pintler Classic in Philipsburg last weekend. He won the 81.4-mile Cat 1/2/3 event with a time of 3 hours, 11 minutes and 4.78 seconds.
The only premier road race in Montana, the Pintler Classic returned after an 11-year hiatus and was considered the state championship.
18-year-old Will Silk of Salt Lake City was the winner of Saturday's Cat 4/5 men's race. The top women's finisher was 39-year-old Chelsee Pummel of Bozeman. She finished the 40.5-mile course in 1:54:23.66.
Emma Swartz of Missoula won the Cat 1/2/3 event in 1:55:48.55.
Tamara Bessette of Missoula won the women's masters race in 1:55:49.42. John Riley of Bozeman won the men's masters event in 1:45:20.90.
Odin Berryman of Missoula won the U18 boys race in 1:45:20.98. Natalie Rehklau of Billings won the U18 girls race in 2:00:27.11.
