Eight-year-old Poppy George stood out amongst older folks, placing second in the Best of Whitefish Best Athlete category.

George said her mantra is, “I believe in myself. I believe in my team. I believe in God.”

George has been a martial arts student at SBG Gym for three years and has a gray/black belt. She also plays soccer with Glacier Surf and her soccer team brought home the gold in their latest home competition, the 3 Blind Refs tournament at the KidSport Complex in Kalispell. The annual tournament is the largest in Montana with over 180 teams coming in from Montana, Idaho, Washington and Canada. Aided by her teammates’ awesome performances, George helped her team score two goals for the win.

Among George’s accolades is Mutton Busting Champion, as she competed at the Montana Longhorn Company's Mutton Busting Championship. George said she also likes to support her sister Flora in her Dream Adaptive Recreation activities.
