Locals Seguine and Jacobs win Whitefish Lake Triathlon
The Whitefish Lake Triathlon hosted 165 athletes on Saturday from 13 states and one Canadian province. The annual event returned after being canceled last summer due to wildfire.
For the classic sprint event, athletes swam a 1/2 mile in Whitefish Lake starting at City Beach, then biked 12.4 miles up Wisconsin Avenue and East Lakeshore Drive before finishing with a 3.1 mile run.
Whitefish locals represented well, taking the top overall male and female spots.
Reigning 2022 champion Ryan Seguine, 44, finished first in 1 hour, 7 minutes and 41 seconds. Polson’s Matt Seeley, 53, was just off the winning pace, taking second place with a 1:09:14. Whitefish’s Tony Schiller, 66, placed third at 1:16:28.
Overall female winner Carrie Jacobs, 43, of Whitefish, finished in 1 hour, 20 minutes and 34 seconds. 18-year-old Isabel Seeley of Polson was the first 18-and-under female and the second female overall, crossing the finish at 1:22:42. She was followed by Malia Seeley, 24, in third place.
13-year-old Bentley Togo of Lethbridge, Alberta placed first in the male 18 and under division.
