Two games in, Whitefish already has 144 points in the books.

And two victories.

On Friday, the Bulldogs opened the year with a dominate 71-33 victory over Corvallis at the Western A Tip-Off Tournament in Frenchtown. The first half was a master class as the Bulldogs held their opponents to just 11 points.

“I’m extremely proud of our boys,” Whitefish Head Coach Alex Gonzalez said. “I felt when we brought in the subs, we didn’t skip a beat. They brought the same intensity. I couldn’t ask more from these young men. They trusted and stuck to our plan.”

Will Sisson was deadly from behind the three-point line, hitting six treys for 21 points. Carson Gulick hit three three-pointers and had 18 of his 20 points by halftime. Ryan Conklin and CJ Thew each had nine points.

“CJ Thew and Carson Gulick are our leaders,” Gonzalez said. “Couldn’t ask for better leadership. I can’t forget Ryan Conklin. He brings leadership on defense and offense.”

Whitefish followed that up with another convincing 73-35 victory over Stevensville on Saturday. Four Whitefish players scored in double digits, with Carson Gulick’s 21 points leading the way.

It was the highest point total for the Bulldogs since 2022. Ryan Conklin added 12 points, while Will Sisson had 11, and CJ Thew notched 10.

“Associate Head Coach L. Henderson has done an amazing job introducing offenses and studying our guys with the rotation,” Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez said he expects the season to be competitive, and the power of the Northwest A was evident in the tournament.

“Expectations are taking it game by game and working as a team,” Gonzalez said. “I always refer back to ‘it’s not about me but us!’ Team effort!”
