Work session for Growth Policy update
The City of Whitefish Community Development Board will be having a work session on Dec. 19, at 5 p.m., to discuss the environment section of the city’s growth policy update, Vision Whitefish 2045.
The Environment section is one of three sections that will comprise the Environment, Natural Resources and Hazards Element of the plan. The plan is intended to contain six plan elements correlating with requirements of the recently passed Montana Land Use Planning Act.
A Growth Policy, also known as community plan, is an official public document intended to be a guide for making decisions about a city’s future, particularly with regards to land use, housing, infrastructure, the environment and natural resources. Although a Growth Policy is not regulatory, it is used as the basis for creating zoning regulations and is the blueprint for the future of the city. The city’s current growth policy was adopted in 2007.
The meeting will be in the City Council Chambers on the second floor of Whitefish City Hall, 418 E. Second St., from 5 to 6 p.m.
The work session will be live streamed at: https://www.cityofwhitefish.org/. Navigate to Government / Whitefish Community Development Board / Live Stream.
A video recording of the work session will be posted to the Vision Whitefish 2045 engagement website at www.engagewhitefish.com. Subscribe to the website to be updated on the progress of the plan and to provide comments.
