Student Body President: Vote ‘Yes’ for the WHS expansion bond

| August 28, 2024 1:00 AM

I love growing up in Whitefish. The perks are unlimited, including our schools. Thanks to our supportive community and educational leaders, we have incredible teachers (!), meaningful classes, and beautiful facilities. What we’re short on is space.

Last year, I couldn't take AP Seminar because there wasn’t room for even one more desk in the classroom. Instead of taking AP Sem, I had an off period. There isn’t space on campus for students during off periods, so I had to leave campus during this part of my learning day.

AP Sem is a pre-requisite for AP Research, which I am unable to take this year because I couldn’t take AP Sem last year. The College Board awards students who successfully complete AP Sem, AP Research, and at least four other AP courses with an internationally recognized AP Capstone Diploma. I had a goal of graduating this Spring with an AP Diploma. I won’t be able to meet this goal due to WHS space limitations.

This scenario of a student being unable to take classes due to space limitations is not unique to me. Our student body continues to grow past our school's capacity. We are running out of space to meet students’ needs.

More space means more opportunities for students to learn.

Thank you for investing in future Whitefish students by voting “Yes” for the Whitefish High School expansion bond. Ballots are due September 17.

With Gratitude,
Zoey Marzo, WHS Senior
Student Body President ‘24-‘25
