Whitefish Community Foundation to Host Community Grant Awards Celebration
Whitefish Community Foundation invites the public to its annual Community Grant Awards Celebration on May 2 at the O’Shaughnessy Center.
Whitefish Community Foundation received a record number of Community Grant applications this spring from nonprofit organizations in Flathead, Lincoln and Glacier counties. The foundation’s Grants Committee reviewed more than 70 applications representing over $600,000 in requests. Foundation board members will present grant awards to the successful applicants at the celebration.
“This year's applications confirm that local nonprofits are tackling a wide range of challenges in our communities,” Whitefish Community Foundation Director of Programs Lynnette Donaldson said. “Above all, the Grants Committee was impressed by the need, and we look forward to awarding Community Grants that we know will solve problems and impact lives.”
The foundation will also present several special awards, including the Doris Schumm Community Spirit Award, Russ and Mary Jane Street Community Service Award, Jean and Bill Howard Memorial Award, and Whitefish Community Foundation Founders Leadership Award. In addition, individuals who have dedicated 20 or more years in service to one Flathead Valley nonprofit will receive special recognition.
The event begins at 5:00 p.m. with a reception in the lobby featuring appetizers and an assortment of beverages. The official program begins at 6:00 p.m.
The Community Grants program is made possible by charitable gifts from the foundation’s Circle of Giving members, a core group of donors who pool their resources together for maximum charitable impact in local communities.
