Bulldogs rally to edge rival Columbia Falls, 7-5

Eureka brought its bats to its 9-8 victory over Whitefish in West Division action on Friday, April 12. Despite a triple, three RBI and 2-for-2 performance at the plate by Michael Miller, Eureka scored in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead and keep it.

Whitefish used two different pitchers - Tait Orme and Talus Piatowski - who struck out a combined eight batters last week. Christian Schwaderer had three hits and two RBI and two doubles. 

The loss dropped Whitefish down to 1-4 on the season. 

On Thursday, Whitefish defeated rival Columbia Falls 7-5 in a game that saw Whitefish score five runs in the top of fifth. The Wildcats had initially led 4-2 before the Bulldogs big rally.

Michael Miller had two home runs in the game and finished with four RBI. Ryan Conklin and Tait Orme had multi-hit games, and Conklin had a double as well. CJ Thew added a triple.

Orme pitched four innings against Columbia Falls, striking out five, while Talus Piatowski finished out the game and struck out three.

Whitefish finished with 10 hits in the matchup. 

On Tuesday, Whitefish had a football game against Corvallis, falling 22-14 on April 9 on the road. The Bulldogs used four pitchers and had 12 hits as a team. Corvallis had 26.

Ryan Conklin went 2-3 in the matchup with three RBI, while Drew Queen had a double and three RBI. Calvin Eisenbarth had two hits and two RBI as well.

Corvallis led 12-2 after three innings, but Whitefish added 10 runs in the top of the fourth to tie things up. Corvallis had their second nine-run rally in the bottom of the fourth and Whitefish couldn’t recover.
