Photos: Girls hockey Jamboree
The Glacier Avalanche girls hockey program hosted about 45 girls for their annual Jamboree April 5 and 6 at Stumptown Ice Den in Whitefish.
Unlike a typical tournament, players sign up individually for a jamboree and are placed on teams to play a series of games. In this case, six teams of 6U/8U and six teams of 10U/12U each played three games on Saturday.
The jamboree format allows players to get to know other girls their age from around the state and make new friends. Event coordinator Lini Reading said it is a great way to foster fun and friendship – competing with and against girls from home and girls from other towns.
Thanks to Safeway for the generous snack donation, volunteer coaches, helpful parents and everyone who assisted with the event.
