Lady Bulldog spikers get wins over Bigfork, Polson
Whitefish swept their Northwestern A foe Bigfork on Thursday, Sept. 14 as Brooke Zetooney led the Lady Bulldogs with five kills while Maggie Mercer had 13 digs in the 25-22, 25-18, 25-19 victory.
"The girls played well as a unit and took care of business," Whitefish Volleyball Coach Addy Connelly said.
The Lady Bulldogs are now 3-2 overall and 3-1 in Conference play.
Serving was a strength for Whitefish, which had 10 team aces, including three from Mercer. Myli Ridgeway, Bailey Smith, and Ainsley Scott had two aces.
Smith had four kills and two team blocks for the Lady Bulldogs, while Isabella Hartwig had four blocks at the net.
"Myli Ridgeway served up a storm for us," Connelly said. "Izzy Hartwig continued to lead our team in blocks while Bailey Smith had some momentum-changing kills."
Whitefish got 11 digs from Ridgeway, while Scott added eight digs and nine assists.
Lady Bulldogs Win Thriller Against Polson
Whitefish downed Polson on Tuesday, September 12, in a thrilling five-set matchup on the Lady Pirates home court. The Lady Bulldogs had 38 team kills, 18 blocks, and 60 digs in the 21-25, 24-26, 25-17, 15-7 victory.
"To come from 2 down speaks volumes about the character of these girls I get to coach," Connelly said. "They played with heart, and they played together."
Brooke Zetooney led Whitefish with ten kills, four blocks, and 11 digs. Isabella Hartwig was a force at the net, notching eight blocks and eight kills. Ainsley Scott led the offense with 15 assists, while Kaydence Blackwell had 12 assists.
The Lady Bulldogs' Myli Ridgeway also had seven kills and 12 digs, while Maggie Mercer had ten digs and Bailey Smith had nine kills.
"As the game went on, they got stronger and stronger," Connelly said. "They showed grit and never gave up despite a rough start. The girls continue to work hard in practice, dialing in areas for growth.
Whitefish will play at Columbia Falls on Thursday and Libby on Saturday before coming back home Tuesday to host Browning for WMS Volleyball Night.
"I'm excited to be almost halfway through our schedule and still moving forward," Connelly said.
