Lady Dogs earns No. 1 seed in conference tourney
Lady Bulldogs Cut Down Loggers Whitefish improved to 10-1 in the Northwest A Conference, sweeping Libby on Tuesday, Oct.17 by scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-11. Ainsley Scott directed the Lady Bulldog offense with 13 assists, while Myli Ridgeway had 12 digs.
“These girls have worked so hard this season,” Whitefish Head Coach Addy Connelly said. “I am honored to coach these incredible ladies. They are excited but really maintain their composure and continue to work hard each day.”
Against the Lady Loggers, Whitefish had 23 team kills, including eight by Isabella Hartwig and six by Brooke Zetooney. Zetooney also had three blocks and five digs. Kaydence Blackwell also had six assists and two aces. Yoli Krastev notched two blocks to go along with eight digs.
Whitefish now has the Northwest A Conference championship wrapped up, so they will have a No. 1 seed going into the conference tournament.
“The southwest bracket will be tough,” Connelly said. “We have had the opportunity to play most of these teams throughout the season, so we know what they can bring to the table. As long as we stay consistent and healthy, we have an incredible opportunity to make our way to state.”
While standings need to be settled elsewhere, it is looking like the Bulldogs will battle the Southwest A’s fourth seed in Polson on Thursday. Judging by Whitefish’s regular season, the postseason should be a fun one for the Lady Bulldog faithful to watch.
“This season hasn't been about standout players but rather playing as a team,” Connelly said. “Each player brings unique qualities that fit together like a puzzle. These players really complement each other and believe in each other.”
