Class of 1958 Hall of Famers

| October 11, 2023 12:00 AM

Whitefish High School welcomed the graduates of the Class of 1958, celebrating their 65th high school reunion…what a milestone! These hearty souls rode in the Homecoming Parade, impressed by the community support of the school and by the legions of school children lining the parade route, holding handmade signs urging the Bulldogs to victory.

Calling themselves the Great ’58, these alums attended the Homecoming Game and at half time they were escorted to the 50 yard line by Aric Harris, Athletic Director. Following the crowning of the Homecoming Royalty, these grads who grew up in Whitefish during the 1940s and 1950s were warmly and loudly greeted by people in the stands.

They were surprised when the announcer revealed that two of their classmates had been inducted into the Whitefish High School Hall of Fame. Doug Knapton and Jim Baker, outstanding athletes in football, basketball and track, merited their award for bringing championship awards to the school during their years on the Bulldog team. This recognition was an emotional moment for the grads, bringing tears to the eyes of more than one member and a heartfelt thank you for this well-deserved recognition.
