Police Calls: Skateboarding on pickleball courts?

Sept. 12

A driver’s foot missed the brake and his rented vehicle hit the vehicle in front of him on Third Street. There were no injuries.

A male was reported for following a female and ‘freaking her out.’ When the male was addressed by law enforcement, he said he was looking for girls but was not following anyone.

Someone called in to say they had just seen a tan Toyota Land Cruiser with a Montana plate on the front and a Florida plate on the back.

A stray, black and tan Gordon Setter was allowed to hang out in a neighbor’s yard until the owner was found.

Sept. 13

A resident of Haugen Heights was advised to keep his dog contained and quiet. The next instance will result in a citation.

Sept. 14

There was a complaint of a construction crew on Third Street making a lot of noise at 6:28 a.m.

A lonely dog’s barking on Woodland Place is an ongoing issue. The caller works from home and thinks the dog begins barking when the owner leaves for work.

Two naked males were seen in a truck on Hospital Way. They had also been seen peeing in the parking lot.

The caller had complaints with traffic on Flathead Avenue, people on the bike path and their general attitude.

The man who accidentally dialed 911 just couldn’t see without his glasses and hit the wrong button.

A black Lululemon purse was reported as lost.

A Scottish Terrier named Moose wouldn’t leave the caller’s home, but eventually the owner picked him up. Another dog was reunited with his owner at the police station.

Sept. 18

A silver Jeep with Montana plates on Baker Avenue almost caused a crash, ran a stop sign and nearly hit the caller.

Someone reported seeing smoke coming from the middle of the railroad tracks on the west side of the viaduct.

After the caller’s son and his girlfriend went out fishing and later could not start the boat, the caller’s husband went out to help them while the caller stayed on shore, worrying, preparing for the worst and experiencing a “pre-emergency.” She was advised to call 911 if she needed assistance getting people off the water.

A cart from Safeway that was on the sidewalk was soon returned to the store.

A bear in the Northwood Drive area got into a car and was trapped inside. Law enforcement helped the bear leave the vehicle. Bear management would follow up the next day.

Sept. 19

There was a report of a dog that barks every day between 5-6 a.m. near Geddes Avenue.

A caller saw smoke on the railroad tracks near the Second Avenue crossing.

The caller said there was something strange in her tree that appeared to be metallic. It was too high up in the tree to reach and she wanted to make sure it wasn’t of value to someone before she disposed of it. The item was eventually identified as a car cover.

Someone stole a political sign from the caller’s front yard on Spokane Avenue.

The owner of two dogs who were running loose on Mill Avenue was advised that the next instance would result in a dog at large citation.

Someone called to ask if kids can skateboard on the pickleball courts.

The hood of a white car was in the southbound lane, posing a traffic hazard.

Sept. 20

A big white truck was seen traveling down Highway 93 at 100 mph and tailgating.

Two dogs were found on Texas Avenue and taken to the police station where they were soon picked up by their owner.

There was a bear in the yard of a residence on Fourth Street.
