It was a wet and chilly day for the Whitefish Invite at the Whitefish Lake Golf Club, but that didn’t slow down the Bulldogs, many of whom posted personal records.

“It was a great day for our team,” said Whitefish Coach Richard Menicke. “Big PRs from several key athletes.”

First place went to the boys and girls teams from Flathead. For the boys, Glacier took second and Bigfork, third. Whitefish finished in sixth place.

On the girls side, Glacier and Polson finished in second and third and the Whitefish girls earned fourth place.

Robbie Nuila from Flathead crushed the course with a time of 16:01.70 and Lauren Bissen of Glacier ran a stellar 18:58.09.

Bulldog Mason Genovese finished in seventh place, running a 16:49. Teammates Simon Douglas ran 17:13, Ethan Amick, 17:26 and Azure Stolte, 18:40.

“Simon ran a great race...huge PR. As did Azure,” said Menicke. “So we are moving in the right direction as a team.”

Only one hundred seconds separated the Whitefish girls. Morgan Grube ran a speedy 21:19 to finish in 17th place.

“Our younger girls had a great run. They are getting closer to our fast upperclassmen athletes,” said Menicke. “Kudos to Maren, Sophie, and Sierra for big improvements.”

Sophie Douglas, Maren Cromie and Sierra Gibb ran a strong race and posted times of 22:06, 22:06 and 22:09.

“All around, a good feeling of accomplishment for our team. They competed well,” Menicke said. “Our competition is distinctly stout this year.”

The team’s next race is the Helena 7x7 on Thursday, Oct. 5.
