Spring roadwork in Whitefish, outside of Kalispell
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), in partnership with LHC Incorporated, recently announced a roadwork project in two Flathead County locations. Near Marion, crews will be widening the shoulder, grading and adding guardrail and rumble strips throughout the area. This same work will take place in Whitefish, northwest of Twin Bridges Road. The project is scheduled to begin in late March or early April 2023, and will last a few months, weather dependent.
“Small safety improvement projects like this are important to keep our roads in good condition,” Bob Vosen, Montana Department of Transportation District Administrator, stated.
MDT says the goal of this work is to improve roadway safety on both routes. Simultaneous construction in two locations allows MDT to allocate equipment, team members and budget more efficiently.
Throughout construction, traffic delays up to 15 minutes can be anticipated. Crews will direct traffic with signals, flaggers and pilot cars.
“We appreciate everyone’s understanding as work approaches; our goal is to keep delays as minimal as possible,” Sam Weyers of LHC said.
