Police Calls: Report of 'helter skelter' drivers on Baker Avenue

Feb. 28

7:47 a.m. A truck with a plow on it hit a propane line on Highway 93. There were no injuries to the driver, the employees all moved away from the tank and soon were given the all clear to enter the building.

5:04 p.m. There was a minor accident and no one was injured on Lakeshore Drive.

5:47 p.m. After an accident between a Subaru and a Jeep, the parties exchanged information and went on their ways.

7:34 p.m. The helpful motorist whose vehicle was on the sidewalk while he gave another vehicle a jump start was advised to handle the situation differently next time.

March 1

11:49 a.m. A woman told an employee of a business on Spokane Avenue that she had her husband’s body in the trunk of her car and that the car was impounded. Another person said she had told him that it was her husband’s ashes in the trunk. In any case, the car had been found and towed. The woman said she would retrieve the vehicle soon.

2:41 p.m. When the caller tried to cash a check for work performed and materials, the bank said there were no funds available.

3:38 p.m. A blue Chevy was parked in such a way as to block a driveway on Central Avenue.

3:40 p.m. A GMC and a Ford had an accident on Highway 93 and no one was injured.

4:26 p.m. It turns out an ongoing issue with parking off Baker Avenue is between two business owners who both have the ability to park in the area in question. They agreed to exchange phone numbers and contact one another to solve parking issues in the future.

7:23 p.m. On Second Street, someone lost a dog that looks like a yellow lab.

March 2

11:12 a.m. A black Dachshund was reported lost on Granite Springs Trail.

11:46 a.m. Someone planning a vacation to Whitefish called to ask questions about open carrying.

12:33 p.m. A white Ford parked off Baker Avenue was blocking a delivery truck.

1:03 p.m. The caller requested extra patrol because people were driving “helter skelter” on Baker Avenue.

2:07 p.m. Two red Ford vehicles were in an accident on Highway 93 and no one was injured.

5:50 p.m. Reportedly, $137 worth of merchandise was taken from a business on Highway 93.

8:51 p.m. After calling to report his dog as lost, the caller found his black and white dog.

1:17 a.m. Someone on Somers Avenue heard a crash and saw a male staggering around a black Subaru before picking something up and driving away. It appeared he had hit a black pickup truck which then slid into the caller’s driveway.

2:34 a.m. A male behind a business on Central Avenue who was belligerent and demanding a ride home was advised to contact a taxi.
