Thanks for success of Woody Weekend

| June 28, 2023 1:00 AM

Thank You, Flathead Valley, for helping to make Whitefish Woody Weekend XI a huge success. It was a great show with 42 beautiful classic boats from all over the Pacific Northwest and California, 10 of which were new to Whitefish Woody Weekend. These boats represented 19 different manufacturers and five different chapters of the Antique and Classic Boat Society. Twenty-four of the 42 participants came to the show from outside the Flathead Valley.

On behalf of all the boat Captains, thank you to all of the dock-walkers who enjoyed the great weather and came out and supported the event on Saturday. It means a lot to the boat owners to see the tremendous turnout. Nearly 400 votes were cast for the People's Choice Award on Saturday. The People's Choice was awarded to Heavenly Days, a 1948 Chris Craft Sportsman owned by Bob and Betty Moore of Polson, Montana. The Captain's Choice Award, voted on by the boat owners, went to Killer, a 1942 Chris Craft Runabout, owned by Steve Zwarg of Spokane, Washington. The Commodore's Award was given to the crew of Golden Days of Spokane, Washington.

We would also like to thank those who volunteered their time and docks for card stops on the poker run. It is great to see all the smiling faces so early on a Sunday morning. The poker run best hand was held by the crew of HOBO a 1929 Chris Craft Model 3 owned by Dean Sackett of Polson, Montana. The best poker run time went to Placid Punch owned by Wally and LaDonna Bell of Helena, Montana.

Finally, we would like to thank The Lodge at Whitefish Lake and their wonderful staff for being great hosts of the event. The Lodge treated the boat owners to that great Whitefish hospitality and once again demonstrated their commitment to community events.

Hope to see you all again at next year's event on June 28-30, 2024, for Whitefish Woody Weekend XII.

Tim Salt is the event director for Whitefish Woody Weekend XI and is part of the Big Sky Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society.
