Fun with Wild Wings Raptors at Whitefish Library
Last week, Beth Watne and the bird-handling helpers from Wild Wings Raptors gave an incredible presentation to a crowd of about 150 people at the Whitefish Community Library.
They walked through the crowd with the majestic birds perched on their arms to give spectators an opportunity to take pictures and enjoy their beauty. Information was shared on 14 different birds ranging from hawks to barn owls. One of the audience members said, “This was the highlight of the summer so far!”
This week there will be two different free events at the library open to the public. Kids of all ages are invited to attend these events.
On Wednesday, June 28, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., the Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming and their new mobile STEM van will be in the library parking lot. Children will get to tour the new van and participate in hands-on STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) activities such as 3D printing, drones, microscopes and more.
On Thursday, June 29, at 10:30 a.m., The Whitefish Lake Institute will give a presentation to the community that will teach us how they monitor the health of the lake while exploring the tiny world of macroinvertebrates. Macroinvertebrate is a fancy word for water bugs. Come prepared to look for tiny creatures in the lake water samples.
