Over the last week, the Glacier Twins improved to 7-1 in the regional American Legion baseball league.

The Twins recorded two shutout victories over Libby at home and then two wins on the road over Mission Valley. On Monday, the Twins notched a win over the Bitterroot Red Sox, a team they had lost to 8-7 on Tuesday, June 13.

The loss a week prior didn’t seem to faze Glacier as they stomped the Red Sox in the recent matchup 11-1. The Twins steadily added runs throughout the innings while holding off the Sox. Talon Murphy toed the rubber for Glacier, giving up just one run on three hits over five and a third innings. He also struck out four players. Maddox Muller closed out the game.

Offensively, Jake McIntyre led the way with three hits, three RBIs and two runs.

Earlier in the week against Libby, Glacier won the first game of a doubleheader 10-0 and the second game 15-0. Both games ended in the fifth inning due to the 10-run mercy rule.

In the first game, the Twins racked up 11 hits as Dayne Tu, Josiah Ruther, Kellen Kroger and AC Chilson all had multiple hits, led by Tu who went 3-for-3 at the plate.

In Polson on Saturday, the Mission Valley Mariners didn’t fare well against the prolific hitting by the Twins. The first game of the doubleheader featured 12 hits by Glacier with several players recording multiple hits. Kroger started the game on the mound for the Twins, lasting for five innings allowing one run on five hits and striking out nine. The Twins won 14-1.

In the second game, Glacier won 9-4. A huge five-run inning in the top of the fourth gave the Twins a commanding lead that they held on to for the remainder of the game. The scoring in the big inning was led by Chilson who singled to score two runs, Maddox Muller hit a double which sent one home and the other runs were scored on a walk and a wild pitch. Chilson went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and Murphy also had two RBIs.

On Wednesday the Twins will host the Missoula Mavericks with game times at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The Twins head to the Helena Cloninger Classic in Helena on Thursday and will play four games from Thursday through Sunday.
