Whitefish Trail Hootenanny music festival returns in August
The Whitefish Trail Hootenanny brings the public together to celebrate the Whitefish Trail and local conservation lands with Whitefish Legacy Partners. This year the Hootenanny will be on Friday, Aug. 25 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. in Depot Park in Whitefish.
Enjoy live music, kids' activities, food trucks, local craft beer and a huge raffle. All ages are welcome and participants are encouraged to walk or ride their bikes to the event. All proceeds directly benefit the Whitefish Trail.
The annual music festival features three live bands, including Old Man Ben and the Grown Ass Men, Big Richard and Archertown. Kids’ activities include a bike obstacle course (bring your own bike and helmet), art projects and hula hoops. Food trucks and local craft beer, wine, cider, non-alcoholic beer and other beverages will be available for purchase.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate, with kids 12 and under free. Tickets can be purchased online at www.whitefishlegacy.org or in person at Glacier Cyclery and Nordic and Sportsman and Ski Haus Whitefish.
The raffle includes two unrestricted round-trip tickets on Alaska Airlines, a season ski pass from Whitefish Mountain Resort, a mountain bike from Glacier Cyclery and Nordic, local lodging gift certificates from The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, Firebrand and the Kandahar Lodge, and much more.
An after party including Big Richard and Old Man Ben and the Grown Ass Men will be held at the Great Northern Bar and Grill (separate tickets needed).
The Whitefish Trail is the anchor project of Whitefish Legacy Partners, a nonprofit organization, and is the result of collaborative partnerships providing public access and managed recreation while protecting clean water, thriving forests and prime wildlife habitat on lands surrounding Whitefish. The Whitefish Trail is currently 47 miles accessed by 15 trailheads just steps from town.
The fundraising event is made possible by title sponsor First Interstate Bank and event sponsors BNSF Railway, Glacier Restaurant Group, National Parks Realty and Edward Jones Financial Advisor Joel Pemberton. Music is sponsored by Great Northern Bar and Grill and 101 Central. Kids’ activities are sponsored by the Whitefish Bike Retreat and Stumptown Art Studio, and local craft beer will be provided by Jeremiah Johnson Brewing Company.
