Celebrating National Trails Day on the Whitefish Trail
Whitefish Legacy Partners (WLP) partnered with Flathead Area Mountain Bikers (FAMB) on Saturday, June 3, at Spencer Mountain to celebrate National Trails Day with a workday on the Whitefish Trail.
Volunteers helped WLP and FAMB build roughly 150 feet of new trail to re-route around a steep section of trail on the East Spencer Loop. The new section is now open and ready for hikers, bikers and equestrians to enjoy.
National Trails Day is an annual event focusing on trail maintenance and advocacy. On public lands across the United States, tens of thousands of people come together every National Trails Day to do service work and support their local trails. WLP and FAMB were proud to bring a National Trails Day event to the Whitefish area and are excited to keep growing the event and engaging more members of the public in the future.

The Whitefish Trail is the anchor project of Whitefish Legacy Partners, a non-profit organization, and the result of collaborative partnerships providing public access and recreation while protecting clean water, thriving forests and prime wildlife habitat on open lands in the urban interface of Whitefish. The Whitefish Trail is currently 47 miles accessed by 14 trailheads just steps from town.
