WEF hosts thank you celebration to celebrate schools
The Whitefish Education Foundation is hosting the second annual “WSD Rocks!” celebration to honor the teachers, administration and staff of the Whitefish School District. The celebration happens from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, June 9 at the Moose Lodge in Whitefish.
The event is free for all Whitefish School District employees, including dinner catered by Piggy Back BBQ, a sundae bar served by Sweet Peaks Ice Cream and two drink tickets. Community members may purchase tickets at the door for $20 which includes dinner and dessert, and a no-host bar. The MAC Band will perform a versatile mix of music that includes classic rock and pop hits of today, beginning at 7 p.m.
“It’s amazing when a community can come together to honor and celebrate the amazing work being done in our public schools and raise money at the same time,” said Cyrus Hadidi, board member for the Whitefish Education Foundation. “These funds enable teachers and students to grow beyond the allocated school budget. We hope to make this an annual appreciation event.”
Through sponsors’ tremendous generosity last year, the Whitefish Education Foundation was able to donate over $113,000 to the Whitefish School District. These funds were allocated to staff development, student activities and enrichment. Examples include literacy training, the eighth grade Montana History Trip, education conferences, and gifted and talented professional development.
The thank you celebration is sponsored by First Interstate Bank, The Homestead, The Iron Horse Foundation, JCR Companies and Whitefish Lake Golf Club who have helped raise more than $50,000 so far this year.
All proceeds from the event support the Whitefish Education Foundation, whose mission is to enhance the quality and scope of educational opportunities for all students of Whitefish Public Schools. Additional donations can be made at the door or through the website at www.whitefisheducationfoundation.org.
